Deepest Sympathy To The Victims of Tsunami In Japan

Friday, March 11, 20011 around 2:46 p.m when the most powerful earthquake created extremely destructive tsunami that struck the northeastern coast of Japan. A magnitude of 8.9 and 10 meter high tsunami caused a catastrophic damaged in the city of Sendai, the capital of Miyagi Prefecture. Buildings, Cars, boats and tons of debris was swept away and being carried along by water. Fires triggered by the quake and were out of control. Aftershocks rattled the country and most of the Japanese residents and workers rushed outside to gather in open spaces. In central Tokyo, most of office workers stayed in their office because the lift have stop working, trains were suspended and millions of commuters decided to walked because transportation are no longer accessible. Millions of homes in and around Tokyo suffered blackout and no communication.  People worldwide felt sad about what happened to Japan. My co Filipinos panicked because most of our fellow men resides and worked in Japan. Thanks to our government because they provide a hotline where they can talk and ask for the situation of their family. After the earthquake, 3 days later we heard the news about the radiation leak in nuclear power located in Miyagi Prefecture.   These caused Filipinos to panic again because we received a hoax text message stating that the radiation leaked may hit the Philippines on that said day. Other rumors spreading the need to wear raincoats because the skin might get burned from acid rain. They said “It’s better to be safe than sorry”, that is why some of Universities suspended their classes and Filipinos started a panic buying of Betadine which believe the best antiseptic.  After all what happened, still each one of us has a great role in our society.  Unexpected events like this are inevitable but if we lend helping hands, we can ease the pain of those affected people. With these devastating effect, we felt sorry and our sincere condolences to those people who lost their loves ones and lost their living. We hope and pray that one day the pain and hurt will be healed.
